We’ve asked the City repeatedly to, at a minimum, create an inventory of the Charlottesville waterfront properties to have a record of the cultural, natural and recreational assets they once possessed after untoward development happens in the Rivanna corridor. City budgeteers have no problem approving $80,000 for cosmetic interior painting at the schools, or $109,000 for a FTE at public works to manage construction contracts. How about $60,000 for a inventory and a provisional plan to retain priceless community riverine assets? What is Council using the $60K in their “green cities account” for? Pizza at neighborhood meetings? CFLs? It would be STRATEGIC not to mess this up. Current balance of the Strategic Initiatives Fund, $224,809…
