December 1, 2016 Mary Joy Scala made a second trip (her first Q&A was held April 11, 2016) to the Woolen Mills Neighborhood to answer questions that arose in November regarding the proposed 60 acre Woolen Mills Historic Conservation District overlay. Ms. Scala, the city’s preservation and design planner, staffs the city’s Board of Architectural Review (BAR).

Accompanying Ms. Scala were three of the unpaid citizen members of the BAR, Chair of the BAR Melanie Miller, Vice-chair of the BAR Tim Mohr and BAR member Justin Sarafin. Additionally, there were two Charlottesville Planning Commission members on hand: Chair of Planning Commission, Kurt Keesecker and Planning Commissioner Jody Lahendro.

Mr John Frazee, WMNA chair, introduced the visitors to the Woolen Mills neighbors. Following the introductions, a two hour meeting to address questions raised by community members ensued. The meeting was largely in a question and answer format.
